From January 1, 2025, it will apply to general cargo vessels (400-5,000 GT) and offshore vessels (≥400 GT). Shipowners and operators must start preparing now to ensure compliance.

The European Commission (EC) is currently working on guidance for offshore ship emissions, and compliance will play a crucial role in the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS) and FuelEU Maritime regulations.

Key Updates:
Expanded Scope – General cargo & offshore vessels from 400 GT now included.
New GHG Reporting – Methane (CH₄) & Nitrous Oxide (N₂O) emissions must be reported.
Early Action Advised – Submit Monitoring Plans (MPs) early to avoid delays.

💡 Insights & Best Practices
To comply with the new requirements, companies should prepare their Monitoring Plan (MP) early, ensure proper data collection, and submit verified Emissions Reports to Thetis-MRV on time. The verification process remains a crucial step before submission, and vessels must have a Document of Compliance (DOC) onboard to meet regulatory obligations.
